10th to 12th Aug
The long await camp finally arrived! Careful planning was done before hand to ensure the best experience for the campers participating.
-Day 1-
Campers arrived and had ice breaking games held between themselves, and after they can finally remember the names of each other, we proceeded to the station games held all over school, having clues leading 1 to another.
And it would finally lead to the main event where teams would be put head to head! The coveted egg drop! Everyone spent every heartfelt minute trying to make the best structure that would shield their eggs from their archenemy, Gravity! This might be against some rules, but one team manage to survive the ultimate challenge, the eleven floor drop! We can only watch in awe and congratulate them.
-Day 2-
Early start to the day, we work up early to get ready for the arrival of the YOG flame. Nine wheelchairs where taken out and wheeled to the venue where the torch would arrive, everyone did go together though. It was an awesome experience, how many would have the chance to be so close to the flame that came all the way from Greece?
After the huge hullabaloo, everyone went back to the loft to cool down and get ready for lunch (it was a very hot day!) Lunch was great, and everyone was pumped up for the up coming water games. But it rained 10mins before the activity start! Everyone was quite disheartened, but no matter! Fun found it way around, and everyone just looked forward to the promising BBQ planned later that evening.
Everyone helped out in preparing for the food!
Marinating the Chicken!
And the time arrived, the sunset and everyone set out to fill their empty stomachs.
Setting up of the BBQ pit.
We were spoilt for choice regarding the food presented. It was just great!
Just look at the number of chicken wings we have! And as many happy faces!

A small glimpse of the food.
We had laughs, and yummy food in our tummies. What more can we ask for?
See? What did I tell ya?The BBQ ended when the lights were turn off, so much fun, so little time, that's just life ain't it?
A tiny amount of food were left over due to the lack of time, but who would be bothered right?
And to end the day, we had our Night walk, plunged into darkness, Ngee Ann is actually quite a scary place. Everyone plucked up their courage and every step was taken with intensity.
No one dared to try anything stupid, no pranks were pulled. Ghost stories were shared, songs were sang and everyone returned to the starting point exhausted. Calling it a day and everyone went back to loft and head to bed.
-Day 3-
No one ever likes goodbyes. But it's time to part ways, ending the camp, packing up the lofts and got debriefed. Everyone went home with something to keep, their memories. Things we will never forget, views we never had for other people.
This Bonding Camp did bring most of us together, it's not something you can have everyday.
Thanks to every participant attending the camp. WP would hope to see you again!

We collected the donation tickets back, and guess what!
We raised a total of $1200, and yes, all the proceeds goes to HWA.
Thanks for everyone outside who helped out, including members of ERS and mentoring for volunteering to aid us in this event.
This would not be the last time we would be carrying out such an activity, kindly approach us the next time we have such events if you are interested to help out!
A small gesture would go a long way.

WheelPower is invited to Punggol Secondary School to show case wheelchair basketball in their brand new indoor court, to the students and the Guest of Honer, Mr Teo Ser Luck, the Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Community Development, Youth and Sports.
We got the students to participate and taught those who are interested to try out and play a few matches! Most where reluctant when approached but it wasn't long after they sat down on the wheelchair, did they feel the challenge and you could almost tell from their faces that they are constantly thinking of new ways to out wit the opposing team.
It's a good experience, the public exposure isn't what we would get often, but events like this, we do surely enjoy. Especially if we could share our experience first hand with anyone that's willing to learn.

2/7/10
Recently, we were invited to a talk at LT 74, hosted by HWA.
A touching video was shown to all who attended, and after, we discussed about the sale of donation tickets.
It was stressed to everyone that if a booklet of 10tickets has been bought by yourself, no cca points will be given, due to the fact that promoting the "purchase" of cca points is highly unrecommended.

And on Sunday, a handful of us attended the Wheel Walk Jog event, once again, hosted by HWA.
It's an event that's held every year for the past 17years. Volunteers help push participants who are wheelchair bounded for a 3km long route around west coast park. Performance and booths are set up for entertainment, and all proceeds goes to Charity. Ain't that just great?

WP in the Pinnacle Race 2010! - 22nd May
We were approached by the NP X-ventures club , to set up as one of the obstacle course in the Pinnacle! Viewing it as a chance to showcase wheelchair basket ball to the public, we took up the offer and went about planning what we should present as a challenge.
In the end, we've decided to make use of the 3 basketball courts in Kismis as our venue. Teams are suppose to pick a player and wheel any one of the wheel chair across the 3 courts, to the last court. Positioning themselves anywhere behind the 2point line, or the red area (as coloured on the kismis courts). Having to take 5 shots before they can wheel back to the starting point, but if they can get 2 in out of the 5 given, they will be given the advantage to wheel back! That's all to it, simple!
We could tell from their faces that some of them truly enjoyed the above. And though it might be a bit late, but congrats to all winners!

Date of events : 4th ~ 6th may.
The Comm service week was created by a group of students from several community service clubs, and under the supervision of Mr Dy. We basically set up booths along NP orchard road, showing pictures and additional details about different community service events carried out by various CCA clubs. This allow us to show to the students of NP that our community service CCA clubs are active. The results were quite astonishing, considering the number of people approaching the different clubs to ask for more info about the different clubs for a better perspective.
The above said applies to wheelpower too! Overall, a job well done.
On the last day of the comm service week, we got stalks of carnations, paired it with birthday bears with 3 different months printed on them(both provided by the handicap welfare association(HWA)). For $10, you'll get a stalk of flower(comes in different colours) and a bear of your choice(3 different colours).
The price maybe steep for some, but for charity, no amount is too great. We manage to sell all 30pairs of flowers and bears, and gathered a total of $300, all proceeds goes to HWA. Showing everyone out there that NP students do have a big heart.
Sorry for the lack of photos this time round. None was taken in the hectic rush.
With that, here's wishing everyone a happy term break, or whatever is left of it.
